I can enter 18 character part numbers but only 15 characters are shown on the quote, why is this?

If you are using the new native PDF engine then different fonts have different character widths.
For example the "Times New Roman" font will fit all 18 characters of the part number in the allowed space whereas the "Helvetica" font will only fit 16 characters in the same space.
The "Verdana" font only fits 14 characters in the same space. So you could select a different font that uses less space.
You can also make more space by reducing the size of the font. This can be achieved for quotations by setting the base font size in the Book Settings > Quotation Settings screen.
The default base font size is 10/72 inch. You can reduce this to 8/72 inch.
